Angus....
A First Hand Account!
We recently have been so graced as to receive a letter from an old friend
of Angus's trying to get in touch with him! Her name is Susanna Dimblad and she
was so nice to give us a first hand account of his younger days, which
she is allowing me to print here. And Angus, if you read this, she IS
trying to get in touch with you, please e-mail her at dimblonde@hotmail.com
On with the fascinating information!! Thanks, Susanna!
"I went to school with Angus in the Philippines - International School Manila. He was a pretty typical 14/15-year-old
weedy guy back then, but cute and blonde! I can't believe what a hunk he turned out to be!
He was there definitely in 10th grade and must have been there for at least part of 11th grade as He taught me how to say
"You're an asshole" in French. This, of course, I promptly used (in 11th grade as we had a ³proper² French teacher) in
the class to another classmate whom I blatantly made fun of and this was naturally to my French teachers dismay. (What a
bitch I was!) I do believe if I recall correctly (well brain cells are getting old now) that I was asked not to come back
to class that day. French was the only class that I failed! The French teacher ran off with one of my good friends'
dad! Looking back, it was a bit wild, but hey, we had fun!
From what I recall Angus was a nice guy, cute, shy and a good student and used to follow me around. My best friend used
to refer to him as ³Suzieıs Pet Angus" which was looking back was mean, but you donıt think about those things at the
time! He probably will cringe now! He must have left Manila around 1980, but canıt be sure.
A friend of mine bumped into him at Heathrow a number of years ago and said he was an actor and gorgeous, but didnıt
elaborate. I was talking to Justin Warburton-Brown (another friend from my misspent youth who now is an art director and
does TV and movies) earlier in the year and asked him if he ever came across Angus as they were in the same profession
but said he hadnıt. I was aware that Angus was in Braveheart, but never having seen the movie didnıt know which role he
played. Justin told me that he onlyı played Robert the Bruce. Justin persuaded me to see the movie, so had a gander
and thought "WOW! What a Hunk!" I did actually enjoy the film, despite the blood and gore.
I would quite like to get in touch with him and having tried trawling the web to find him without success except for this
page. I have found loads of other people through the web, so it does work. Eventually I found his agent in LA and
emailed him via her, but he never did get in touch - don't know if the email was ever passed on or not. There are loads
of alumni in Europe and of course the States (as it was an American School) and we all try to get together once in a
while. Europe is harder as there are fewer people, but in the States there is a reunion every four years with over 500
people from all over this planet attending. Great fun!
Would be nice to catch up with the last 20 years with him. (Makes us sound really old!) There are a few of us around in
the UK and it would be great to go out for a few beers. It would be nice to organise a reunion over here for the
Europeans. Once in a while a few of us make the effort and converge generally on London where some are based and just
have a great weekend of it. Unfortunately, it doesnıt happen as often as one would like. Time is a big constraint. The
fun part is finding out what the hell has happened in all these years apart. The Internet has played a big role in
people looking each other up. It is lovely surprise to get an email from someone you havenıt had any contact with since
High School and to catch up.
So Angus, if you are reading this, get in touch!
