The rest of the park!!
GRACKLE!
Specifically, the greater Antillean grackle. Karen looked it up.
Next we headed over to the zoological area. Here's the first guy we met.
Karen seemed especially fond of the parrot.
More animals...
I actually am showing a lot less of the animal pictures, mainly because none of them seemed particularly pleased to be there. Happy animals make for better shots. These are mainly to give you an idea what we saw.
We saw a lizard! Here's a picture of him!
This will not be the last lizard you see. The island seems to have a small plague of them.
I just liked this shot. At some point Karen found out what sort of tree it is, but I don't know as of typing this.
At the end of the zoo area, there was a historical and educational Russian helicopter 0_o
Also, they had a house with a fake guy on it, doing something else historical and educational that they didn't bother to explain. It was a very amusing place.
After this, Martin and I headed off alone to play with the pirate ship. It was supposedly modelled after the Queen Anne's Revenge.
While we were up there, I got a movie file of the flag waving in the breeze, mostly for Krystal. You can see it here...
Flag.Avi - 7 meg
Here's a shot of the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria from the Queen Anne's Revenge... (there's a phrase you don't hear routinely...)
Originally I thought this next guy was holding a beer bottle or something until I looked closer and saw the Invisible Sword Blade 0_o
Playing ^_^
...and back to the Taino Indian area.
"I Caught a FISH!!"
Here you can see the traditional Taino huts, with the authentic plexiglass doors. The Taino are not only well known for inventing plexi-glass, but for inventing the secret door, which they hid behind all that thatch so that they could still go in and out ~_^
Yeah, I know, the plexiglass was to keep people from messing about inside, but where's the fun in saying that?
Here's Martin with a girl who is obviously quite bored of having her picture taken with turistas.
We did eventually leave the lighthouse. On the way back, I realized we had a crisis. Low on rum!! So we found a cute little place past the house. We stopped because it looked like a store, but in reality I think it was a bar. After spending about 3 minutes trying to communicate, I found out that the only rum in the place was in tiny bottles still in their crates, but he pulled out a couple and sold them to us for the fantastic price of 4 bucks a pop. Here's the bar/store.
Here's the brand we got, it came in a little flask kinda bottle... I don't have a good shot of it, I don't think...
Then we went home and took a few shots of the sunset. I can't remember what we did for dinner that night, which irks me, because I know it was cool, but here are the shots we took at sunset.
...and if you're feeling adventurous, you can see what my Monday in Puerto Rico was like.
