This is where I usually chatter at
you to try to give you something to read while all the damn pictures
load, but A: I can't think of anything and B: Farscape is on and I
haven't seen this one, so be glad you're getting a picture post at all =P
We started out by meeting up with Kat. Today I basically met a large
percentage of the P6, and she was the first. Everyone
has been really cool that I met and I immediately hit it off with Kat. Here's a pic of
Kat, Talon and Robyn, in that order.
Today was Robyn's birthday as well! Don't forget your best friends
birthday! This was at one of the malls in Calgary, Chinook Center.
We met up with Keahi there, who I was totally remiss in taking a picture
of, despite the fact that she may well be the most photogenic of us all. You'll see her
later. We wandered around the mall, including Hudson's Bay company, before
meandering over to the food court where I tried my first poutine, and, being me,
paired it with a pack of avocado rolls from the sushi truck. ^_^ It was A&W poutine,
which I hear isn't the best, but I found it pretty decent although it would
rarely be my first choice as the cheese curds sorta scared me.
Afterwards, since Keahi had an errand to do in Chinatown anyways and
Tal, Kat and I wanted to see it, so we all trooped down in two cars there. Here's one shot of the
place.
You can see Calgary Tower from Chinatown! Woot! A shot of both
Chinatown AND Calgary Tower!
Here's a cute little indoor mall-ey thing we went into.
And here's a shot of the inside of it. I know. This is
enthralling. When I get back, all my So. Cal. friends will be required to
come over for a 4 hour slide show of both these pics and all the ones
I didn't post here. There will be no bathroom break.
We also went into the cultural center, which has an
extremely ornate roof and pillars. This isn't the worlds best shot,
but it gives you an idea of the place.
Here's the front of the cultural center. I REALLY DID
winnow these out some. Hard to believe, I know.
After Chinatown, Keahi walked me over to check out the Bow river!
See, Calgary has two rivers running through it, one vertical and one
horizontal. I'm PRETTY sure this is the horizontal one, I know it's the larger
of the two. This is a shot I put together from two shots to make it more panoramic.
If you click on it, you can see the larger version, I shrunk this puppy to make it
fit the page better.
Here's a shot the other direction....
Did I mention it was Robyn's birthday? We went out
to Swiss Chalet (Rob, Tal, Kat and I) to meet up with Taeha and Hawkstone
for a birthday dinner. They got her this spiffy little faceplate/cover for her
phone with Egyptian gewgaws all over it. Yay!!
....and then we stuck a bow on her head ^_^
Of course it being her birthday she had to be embarassed and given free pie.
Tradition and all. I'm not 100% sure I want these people at MY birthday!
And then off to Dairy Queen because their ice cream is teh sex. We met
up with Keahi and Nikki (YAY, I got to meet Nikki, too! Everyone was extremely spiffy.) We
then foisted off about 5 different cameras on Hawkstone and made him take the same
shot over and over and over and over and over and over. *snicker* This shot is, in order from
left to right, Keahi, Nikki, Taeha, Me, Robyn, Kat and Talon.
Only in Canada. An ice cream cake with a picture of beer on it.
Onnnnnlyyy here.
We then sat around DQ for several hours being loud and frightening
the normies away, after which everyone split up, we took Kat back to the house and
I inflicted many AMV's, both anime, meme's and Farscape on people before we all
passed out soundly.
